The only thing that I can really see being a problem is the strength of the peanut butter flavor. Non-filled pretzels are going to amount to less PB content per pint in general, but if the quality of the pretzels themselves improves and the swirl is as strong as ever, I could take that as a fair trade. ...See what I did there? Yeah. Overcomplicating eating ice cream. Enjoy the damn pint.

Had this when I was in the US recently so only have tried the new version. Don't know what the old version's pretzels were like but I thought they were just insanely good. I still have yet to try the new one. Back when they started switching to fair trade I stocked up on the old version in the fear that the updated recipe would disappoint. I can't imagine it would be a complete fail either way, but I do fear that I won't like it as much. I don't really understand why people are being so stubborn about the switch. I had Chubby Hubby a few times before they revamped the recipe and always had quite a few soggy pretzel bites. With this new version, EVERY single peanut butter chocolate pretzel was super-crunchy. Just that fact alone made for a better experience. Add in the fact that it went from non-Fairtrade to Fairtrade and it seems like a win win. Super Crunchy and not rock hard like most BnJ Pints.. this was a KILLER pint.

Ben N Jerry's Chubby HubbyFirst of all let me say that going into this review I cant believe i have passed this up for numerous times. Maybe its because the calories were high (340 a serving) or because i was blind on the Peanut Butter Pretzels, but regardless its time to give this a crack. Ben n Jerry's Chubby Hubby is vanilla malt ice cream with peanutty fudge-covered pretzels with fudge & peanut buttery swirls. Now is that a mouthful or what? This has practically everything I enjoy minus some cookie dough, but besides that beggars cant be choosers. Lets get right into the review and my thoughts on this pint. Looking at the opening of the pint you are surrounded with swirls of Fudge and Peanut butter that are on the premise of a vanilla malt ice cream base. Now BnJ is known to have a better vanilla base than a chocolate base so i already had high standards going into this pint. I was a little curious on how the Pretzels with Fudge and peanut butter were going to be, but in the end you will see i was very pleased with how the Fudge coated pretzels play a great role in the pint because Ben n Jerry's when it comes to mix-ins does not disappoint. The First bite showed a glimpse of a massive fudge covered pretzel piece and a good peanut butter swirl that coated the ice cream. All in all this was delicious. Usually ben N jerry has solid mix-ins and sometimes like in Chocolate peanut butter cup or Peanut Butter Cup they are like semi-frozen. it was nice to have a firm but not frozen pretzel that has a nice layer of fudge surrounding it and a good glimpse of peanut butter that complimented the pretzel very well. off the first bite alone my eyebrow rose, i did not get much of the base but as i dug in i would say this held an edge in the basic vanilla base that ben n jerry's does offer. As I dug through the pint it was evident that this pint is not shy on mix-ins or pretzels. It was a minefield of Fudge Pretzels. Every single bite had a huge chunk of pretzel and fudge not to mention a surmount amount of peanut butter. when thinking of the other PB pints such as PB cup that just has PB Cups or Chocolate PB Cup with PB Cups, this rose well above in terms of taste. Not to mention i would place this higher than what a cluster which has a great swirl (of caramel) and a PB Base. I think the swirl combined with the vanilla malt base was a great choice and it really hit the spot regardless of the calories. While this may not be PB dominant like what a cluster, this still gave it a run for its money for a top 5 flavor and i would have to put this right up there. Oatmeal Cookie Chunk my #1, Everything But the #2 (A mix in-junkie), Chubby Hubby (#3), Candy Bar Pie (#4), and Dublin Mudslide (#5). Even though some are discontinued the uniqueness of the pints really stood up IMO. Some others that get huge recognition (#6-10) are PB Cup, PB World, Cinnamon Buns, Nutty Caramel Swirl, Brownie Chew Gooder/Half Baked) The Fudge did remind me of the Truck Stop Fudge in essence from 2nd street, but the overall PB Swirl really enriched this pint to give it a solid ranking and again near the top for me. Score : A Found: Wegmans Erie, PA

Chocolate Therapy is on a much higher level than both Phish Food and Truffle Trifecta. You definitely need to try that one. That chocolate cookie swirl... Agreed. I doubt I'd buy Chocolate Therapy again (I have BKLYN Blackout in the freezer now), but I definitely don't regret trying it once. BKLYN is meh at best.. not a good steve's flavor IMO

What do you guys prefer on the spot at a parlor/shop fresh (not talking about pints)? I've been consuming more and more gelato recently, especially with so many decent gelato spots around NYC. I've gotta admit, the flavors are much more potent, calories are lower too. Gelato is probably better for cutting too. The downside is no mix-in/lack of mix-ins obvs. What do you guys prefer? Ice Cream, Gelato from a soft literally melts in a heart beat, and is much lighter, But again this comes down to personal preference.

Words could not describe. There was a 1" Peanut Butter Chip from the Buckeye Blitz in there, Honestly as thick as the Brownie!

Putting this review together now. A little confused by Buckeye Blitz being involved. Isn't that a Graeter's flavor? Buckeye State! My bad.

Graeters Brownie Sundae: After walking into a Graeters while in columbus I was able to sample a few of the new limited edition Flavors - Banana Chocolate Chip (Absolutely amazing, tastes like a ripe banana with softer chocolate chips from Graeters) - Peanut Butter Brownie (A rich PB Base loaded with chunks of fresh and moist brownies) - Aztec Chocolate (Tastes like a Swiss Chocolate which is very rich) - Chocolate Coconut Almond (Tastes like a Almond Joy) Now onto the Brownie Sundae, The Brownie Sundae is a Brownie split in half and covered in 2 Scoops of Graeters Ice Cream with Whip Cream and Fudge Topping. Since it was a brownie i went with my favorite flavor off the line (Buckeye Blitz which is Chocolate/PB/Cookie Dough mix-ins) with the Peanut Butter Brownie (To compliment the overall brownie and enhance the PB From the Buckeye Blitz) I would have to say this was one of the best things i have possibly ever had in my ice cream history when everything was all said and done. If you are a sucker for a rich and delicious base you got Brownies, Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Cookie Dough all in one massive bowl topped with hot Fudge and Whip Cream. Words cant express much more for someone who loves PB/Cookie Dough. As i went through the PB Brownie first since it is the new limited edition flavor for August/September it blows away a Ben n Jerry's Base for PB (as had in the What a Cluster) its not even a comparison, and you also get thick and moist brownie pieces (think tons of brownies from 2nd street here) put those together and thats PB Brownie from Graeters. When this is in Pint form i will be scooping it. I lived 4 hours away and they had a hand packed pint, i was tempted to grab it but did not have a cooler on hand for my trip back. Buckeye Blitz was nothing short of what is expected. The only crazy thing was is that i got a Chocolate Peanut Butter Mix-in that was nearly the size of a chunk of a hershey bar (about an inch) it was possibly one of the bigger mix-ins i have ever got from Graeters in general through all the pints I have had. The Brownies overall were not bad, they were not fresh made, but imported (Frozen and thawed out) they are not very moist but on the harder side (not as frozen as ben n jerry mix ins). They were decent at best, but they complimented the PB/Chocolate/Fudge and Whip Cream all on the ice cream so everything just combined to make a pretty good Sundae. If you are ever in a Graeters i would suggest the Bundt Cake as found in the 1870 tower which is a lot better, moist, and tastes superior. Overall this was one of the best creations I have ever had in an ice cream scoop shop and HIGHLY Recommend it.

While in Columbus You have to stop at Jeni's or you dont have much attraction towards ice cream seeing its made in the city! First of all i got 3 scoops in the sundae Brown Butter Almond Brittle (Amazing and probably my #2 next to Dark Chocolate) Buckeye Blitz (#4 IMO) Salted Caramel (#5 IMO) I would rank Queen City Cayenne up there as possibly #3 with the amount of blends that it does contain its a very good flavor Anyway with the mix-ins on top which are new (Gravel) i had to give it a shot and i got 2 different kinds - Chocolate Blackout (Shaved Chocolate Pieces) - Salty Caramel (Crushed up Graham Cracker Pieces) Overall the basic Jeni's flavors are superior as you would expect and as i have went into detail on, but overall the Gravel does not add as much as you would expect, it honestly was worse than coldstone mix-ins to be honest. THe Chocolate was ok, but its nothing like their dark chocolate ice cream, very mediocre in flavoring/taste, and the Salty Caramel was not much better. It really did not feel like a crushed up Graham Cracker, it just had a basic bland taste to it kind of similar to a stale cracker that had little chunks and little debree along the outside of the ice cream. If i were to go back to jeni's next time for a trio it would be without the gravel because it was not worth the time or extra money for it to be had. It honestly did nothing for the mix-in nor did it enhance it, i think it just made the final product worse. So take caution when you are going to add gravel. If i were to add gravel i would stick to a caramel or fudge sauce with a donut mix-in (which i did not try) These are things i will consider for the future and give a review on when i do give it a whirl. Until next time!
