While in Columbus You have to stop at Jeni's or you dont have much attraction towards ice cream seeing its made in the city!
First of all i got 3 scoops in the sundae
Brown Butter Almond Brittle (Amazing and probably my #2 next to Dark Chocolate)
Buckeye Blitz (#4 IMO)
Salted Caramel (#5 IMO)
I would rank Queen City Cayenne up there as possibly #3 with the amount of blends that it does contain its a very good flavor
Anyway with the mix-ins on top which are new (Gravel) i had to give it a shot and i got 2 different kinds
- Chocolate Blackout (Shaved Chocolate Pieces)
- Salty Caramel (Crushed up Graham Cracker Pieces)
Overall the basic Jeni's flavors are superior as you would expect and as i have went into detail on, but overall the Gravel does not add as much as you would expect, it honestly was worse than coldstone mix-ins to be honest. THe Chocolate was ok, but its nothing like their dark chocolate ice cream, very mediocre in flavoring/taste, and the Salty Caramel was not much better. It really did not feel like a crushed up Graham Cracker, it just had a basic bland taste to it kind of similar to a stale cracker that had little chunks and little debree along the outside of the ice cream.
If i were to go back to jeni's next time for a trio it would be without the gravel because it was not worth the time or extra money for it to be had. It honestly did nothing for the mix-in nor did it enhance it, i think it just made the final product worse. So take caution when you are going to add gravel. If i were to add gravel i would stick to a caramel or fudge sauce with a donut mix-in (which i did not try) These are things i will consider for the future and give a review on when i do give it a whirl. Until next time!
