Living The Cream Monster
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
Monster is labeled as "Vegan peanut butter ice cream, M&M's, and chocolate oat no-bake cookies."
The vegan peanut butter ice cream is similar to real peanut butter out of a jar. When peanut butter meets high-quality ice cream you taste a high buttermilk fat content. The density is very thick as Living the Cream's bases are right up there like Salt & Straw, Caffe Panna, and Clementines. If I were to nitpick the base I would like a little bit more salt to really get this flavor to pop. Due to the fact this was vegan peanut butter, I did not expect it to taste as rich as a regular peanut butter base.
M&M's are the standard American candy we have all come to know. The basic crunchy shell meets a milk chocolate center that melts in your mouth. M&M's are nothing special, but add a nice compliment to the rich peanut butter base. The star of the show is the chocolate oat no-bake cookies. No-bake cookies are oatmeal, sugar, milk, butter, cocoa powder, and peanut butter cooked and then cooled on parchment paper. The chewy mix-in is incredibly rich and has a soft texture to them. Usually, mix-ins of this nature are rock hard in ice cream, but Living the Cream has done his homework by folding them into his base ice cream.
Overall this is a simple recipe on paper that is executed extremely well. The vegan peanut butter base is the best vegan peanut butter base on the market hands down. The mix-ins are straight to the point with the no-bakes being spectacular. This one may seem basic to the eye, but Living the Cream is able to pull it off in great fashion.
