Living the Cream PB-Nana Gooey Pie
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
PB-Nana Gooey Pie is labeled as "Graham cracker ice cream, brown sugar graham crumble, marshmallow swirls, and peanut butter-banana ooey gooey butter cake."
The ice cream is rich, bold, and packs a subtle cinnamon flavoring in the aftertaste. Graham Cracker ice cream is rare on the ice creak market, but Living The Cream perfected it. Every single portion of the graham cracker was pure. The replica of a real cinnamon graham cracker is spot on. When put into a dense, creamy, and high buttermilk fat base this flavor really shines.
The brown sugar graham crumble is scattered throughout the pint. The crumble in essence is graham crackers added to brown sugar after boiling butter at a low temperature. The brown sugar provides a strong molasses-type flavor due to the graham addition. The marshmallow swirls are extremely thick, luscious, and have a blistering rich flavor that provides a s'mores vibe when paired with the graham cracker base. It was a smart move to do marshmallows as a swirl because mini marshmallows can become rock hard when frozen in ice cream. The peanut butter banana ooey gooey butter cake is a first-time experience for me. The butter cake is full of flavor, packed with a very rich aftertaste. The texture of the mix-ins is soft, moist, and provides an incredible chewy aspect. The peanut butter and banana hybrid flavor strikes in a 50/50 compliment split to give you the best of both worlds.
Each aspect really shines and was implemented very well. The base is the best graham cracker base I have scooped. The swirls are pooling from top to bottom with a superb texture and consistency. The butter cake is present in each and every bite and packs a ton of flavor. The biggest drawback is there is so little base and so much swirl it takes away from the big picture. Adjusting the swirl to base ratio will make this his best flavor he creates.
