Living the Cream Bob's Birthday
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
Bob's Birthday is labeled as "Vegan peanut butter ice cream, brownie batter swirls, oreo chunks, and salted peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough chunks."
The vegan peanut butter ice cream is similar to real peanut butter out of a jar. When peanut butter meets high-quality ice cream you taste a high buttermilk fat content. The density is very thick as Living the Cream's bases are right up there like Salt & Straw, Caffe Panna, and Clementines. If I were to nitpick the base I would like a little bit more salt to really get this flavor to pop. Due to the fact this was vegan peanut butter, I did not expect it to taste as rich as a regular peanut butter base.
The oreo chunks are mashed-up sandwich cookies. Imagine the peanut butter Oreos with a sweet creamy aftertaste. The brownie batter swirls are the highlight of this pint. This consistent swirl is layered throughout the pint with a silky, thick, and bold fudge flavor. Imagine mixing up a fresh batch of brownies and digging into the bowl before you even bake them. The salted peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough chunks are soft, chewy, and provide a soft mix-in. The salt needs to be stronger just like the base, but the peanut butter flavor is not shy on these cookie dough chunks.
Besides the lack of salt in this pint, everything else was fantastic. Salt in essence is a flavor enhancer, with that one minor tweak it makes a great pint and top-tier pint. Even if you blindfolded me and told me this was a vegan base I would have a hard time believing you. Everything else was absolutely stellar in this offering.
