Ben & Jerry's Topped Whisky Biz
Ben & Jerry's Topped Whisky Biz is labeled as "Brown Butter Bourbon Ice Cream with Blonde Brownies & Whiskey Caramel Swirls Topped with White Chocolatey Ganache & White Fudge Chunks." It's an ice cream sundae in a pint! Ben & Jerry's Topped flavors feature a spoonable chocolatey topping that's extra euphoric. Topped ice cream first made its debut in the UK and Europe in 2017, and finally have made their way to the states in 2021.
The brown butter bourbon ice cream does not pack a lot of booze. Which for someone like myself who is not a drinker makes this very enjoyable. Ben & Jerrys found a happy medium of boozy and sweet in a very harmonious and enjoyable way. The base is creamy, light, and has the right amount of nuttiness in the aftertaste to provide the correct brown butter taste.
The white chocolatey ganache is much thicker and more arousing than the crackling shells in the Magnum pints. The white chocolate and bold and rich vanilla flavor.
The white fudge chunks are hard to find as they are over shadowed by the thick ganache layer. The blonde brownies are scarce, but provide the chewy and soft texture that hold its composure in a frozen dessert. The whisky caramel swirl is similar to the base with a very light backend of booze. Both compliment each other to enhance the big picture, but the amount of swirls and mix-ins are subpar in this pint compared to Tiramisu.
I found this to be an enjoyable pint just like I have had in the past with all the other boozy ice creams Ben & Jerry has produced. I wanted to steer clear of the chocolate bases from the topped line as that is one of Ben & Jerry's weakest aspects. The only downfall is the density of the base and consistency of the mix-ins. Overall it is not bad, but has room for improvement.
