Magnum White Chocolate Vanilla
Magnum White Chocolate Vanilla is labeled as "Vanilla Ice cream and white chocolate shards in a crackling white chocolate shell." Just like my last experience with the milk chocolate hazelnut this has a very similar setup. While this may be very basic on paper with a duo of vanilla and white chocolate how well do each one of these compliment each other!? Lets soon find out.
Upon opening the container you are presented with a layer of white chocolate. The white chocolate shards pack a luscious amount of flavor that surpassed New Orleans ice cream company's white chocolate bread pudding by a landslide. If you ever went to a bulk chocolate store and just ate the white chocolate pieces on their own this is a very close replica. The density of the shards crack right into the premium ice cream base. What makes the shards and shell such a unique aspect in the Magnum ice cream is how the thickness of the chunks blend well with the creaminess of the ice cream.
Since you have to let the shell temper so long, by the time you reach the ice cream it is already melting on your spoon. If you ever had McConnell's I label it the best on the market right next to Graeter's for a vanilla base. Both companies provide a way to enhance the sweetness of a vanilla and make it stand out among the ice cream crowd. Magnum on the other hand has an added buttercream aspect that resembles cake frosting. The whipped consistency is a step up above a light ice cream (Dreyer's, Edy's, Blue Bunny, Blue Bell), but not as dense as a true premium ice cream like Salt and Straw, Ample Hills, and Clementines.
The way Magnum found a way to combine a vanilla and white chocolate element together was superb. Not once was either flavor overpowering each other and they meshed together to form a great tasting ice cream. If you cherish a great vanilla ice cream and white chocolate you will not want to pass this up. I would rank this flavor a top 3 vanilla ice cream on the market after trying out some of the best the states has the offer.
