Little G's Magic Bar
Little G's Magic Bar is labeled as "coconut ice cream with butterscotch chips, graham cracker crumbs, mini chocolate chips and magic bar chunks." Magic bars are a baked good that combines all of the elements in this ice cream. This is another reason why you see all the complimenting aspects being thrown into this featured summer flavor on top of the actual baked good itself to amplify the flavor. Seeing I have never had a magic bar before I was in for a ride on this one.
If you know me I am not a huge coconut fan, but Little G's nails the coconut flavoring in her base. For anyone who truly enjoys coconut you will want to make sure this base does not get changed in the future because its stellar. The sheer amount of coconut flavoring is not overpowering, but it is just right to help let the mix-ins still shine and provide their part of the picture when you grade all aspects of the pint. If you have ever had Graeter's coconut base take that and turn it up a notch. Little G did well on this one!
Anytime a company puts together a lot of mix-ins sometimes it is very hard to find a good ratio of each one of them especially when ice cream is hand packed. The mini chocolate chips as featured in go bananas, cookie butter crunch, and a few other flavors are self explanatory. These are mini milk chocolate chips that help enhance the magic bar feature. The same can be said about the butterscotch chips to give this a dual flavored candy vibe. The graham cracker chunks were crunchy and were small chunks consistent from top to bottom in my experience. The magic bar chunks were virtually a combo of everything provided in this pint, but much larger in size. I got some chunks that were the size of Graeter's signature chocolate chips up to 1/2" in size. When Little G threw together all these aspects the baked good was actually very pleasing and delightful.
There were lots of pictures on social media with QC issues on this pint and people missing mix-ins, but luckily mine was evenly distributed. While I am not the biggest coconut fun, everything in this pint flowed together, and there was no short change of mix-ins. I enjoyed this one much more then expected, but I would still aware cookie butter as the emerging sleeper of the pack.
