Little G's Ice Cream Go Bananas
Little G's Ice Cream Go Bananas is labeled as "Brown butter ice cream with banana bread chunks, candied walnuts, and mini chocolate chips." Being a guy who loves banana bread, and grew up eating is on the weekly I was very excited this is replicated in an ice cream form. It is rare to see this from a company, but Grace goes above and beyond to think outside the box. Here I am hoping to indulge in a regular childhood favorite!
The brown butter ice cream is dead on. I have to say Grace does unique bases so much better then her original chocolate and vanilla bean which are mostly featured on her original flavors. The brown butter has a lingering aftertaste that gives you a brown sugar element. The butter is subtle which pairs with the brown sugar flavoring perfect. Not only does that go well with the entire experience it sets up the mix-ins just right.
The Chocolate chip pieces are loaded. From top to bottom they are in every spoonful. Just think about opening a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips from the grocery store and swirling them into ice cream, that is practically what you are getting. The candied walnuts were all of ther place, but the banana bread was nearly missing from this pint. The candied walnuts offered an incredible crunch, and help give the overall experience of a banana bread an upgrade. The sole banana bread chunk I got was moist, soft, and packed a ton of flavor similar to the Maple French Toast experience. They even had a slight buttery aftertaste of fresh baked banana bread. Well done Grace.
Overall I was pleased. The amount of candied walnuts did wow me, but everything meshed together as you would hope for. You even get the buttery taste of a banana bread freshly baked out of the oven in the aftertaste which is truly unique.
If there was a stronger balance of banana bread in here (which I was expecting) I would of ranked this a bit higher!
