Little G's Ice Cream Christmas Triple Cookie Dough
Little G's Ice Cream Christmas Triple Cookie Dough is labeled as "Eggnog ice cream with snickerdoodle, gingerbread & sugar cookie dough's." So this is a holiday spinoff of triple cookie dough. Replace the vanilla bean base with eggnog and throw in snickerdoodles and gingerbreads. While Triple Cookie Dough was good lets see how this compares.
If you know me I am not a huge fan of eggnog. I was scared getting this pint, but don't sweat the eggnog is not strong. Its visible but the vanilla bean is the dominant flavor as the eggnog is the aftertaste. This makes this enjoyable. it almost reminded me of a luscious cream cheese based flavor. The base is super creamy, but I found it denser compared to the regular vanilla bean. I actually enjoyed this the more I dug deeper into the pint as it started to grow on me. For how much I do not like eggnog this was actually pleasant.
Right off the bat you can see the gingerbread is the dominant mix-in throughout this pint. From my first spoonful I got gingerbread chunks similar in size to gingerbread man. As you venture down the pint you get smaller chunks of snickerdoodles and sugar cookie chunks. The gingerbread is fantastic because of how it gives that molasses aftertaste to go with the eggnog base, but it really overpowers the snickerdoodles and sugar cookies. Both of those elements are hard to find throughout this pint as the gingerbread chunks are so massive in size. The picture of the spoon shot has the gingerbread chunks almost as large as my spoon! This pint was as packed as my Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzels which consistent of almost all mix-ins. The snickerdoodles once I struck them had a nice sugary aftertaste to them which went perfect with the sugar cookie dough pieces to give that base an extra kick.
Going into this pint thinking the eggnog would turn me off, it actually played in my favor. Due to the consistency of mix-ins that left about 20% ice cream in this pint the eggnog flavor was masked. It has just enough eggnog to give you the flavor, but the mix-ins do the talking with the flavoring. Hints of cinnamon sugar, molasses, and sugar cookies take the cake on top of a subtle eggnog base. I really enjoyed this one the further I dug down because I got used to the eggnog flavor. The Sugar Cookie pieces were absolutely incredible, and packed the most flavor, I wish there was more!
