Little G's Fudge Brownie
Little G's Fudge Brownie is labeled as "Vanilla Bean ice cream with a chocolate fudge swirl and fudge brownie chunks." For those who like a very basic vanilla ice cream and chocolate and brownies this should be a killer flavor. The one thing I noticed was the seal was clear on top of this pint as all the others were white. Not only that but the base was much denser then all the other flavors which is in my favor. Before digging in I did read some reviews and this one got a lot of gossip. Lets see how it lands in the original 8 flavors I got.
First of all the vanilla bean ice cream is exactly what you would think. Ever drink a vanilla bean coffee creamer? Yeah that is exactly what Little G's brings to the table. The base is not super sweet or luscious like a Graeter's ice cream, but has a dense vanilla flavor. For those who like a strong vanilla and not sweet this is right up your alley. Besides breaching the surface and getting ice cream you are then loaded with nothing but mix-ins. I would put it up there as a good base, not great. Due to the amount of chocolate swirl and fudge brownies it was almost impossible to taste the base as I got into this one.
The highlight of this pint is the chocolate swirl. The fudge swirl is a stronger dark chocolate to milk chocolate flavor that pairs very well with the brownie chunks. The swirl is thick, and provides a very bold chocolate flavor that pairs with the soft, and gooey brownies in this pint. The brownies are no joke either, the size of some of these suckers are massive. The bottom of my pint had a 2" large brownie. That is easily as big if not bigger then one of the biggest Graeter's chocolate chip pieces I found in my buckeye pint. When you get chunks of the swirl and a soft brownie its a nice one two punch of a thick swirl and a soft brownie. Its like putting chocolate syrup on top of a brownie sundae!
Not only was this base much thicker, the amount of flavor from the chocolate swirl and brownies did a great job with a vanilla bean base. The amount of flavor from the base faded as the mix-ins really took over the show. For those wanting to grab more vanilla bean flavor in this one it will be hard because of the consistency of mix-ins. The swirl reminded me of how thick Turkey Hill provides them in their quarts. Downsize that swirl into a small pint, load it with brownies, and you have Fudge Brownie in a nutshell.
