I am still working through some of the residual holiday flavours I have from Fiasco Gelato and decided to dig into Chocolate Peppermint next. As I mentioned in my review of Sugar Plum & Pear Sorbetto, the folks at Fiasco Gelato are Gelato geniuses based out of Calgary, Alberta up in Canada. When you untwist the lid, that's right it came in a glass jar, you are met with a very dark chocolate base. At 210 calories per serving (x4) with no mix-ins I am expecting a decadent base. FG totally delivered in that respect and actually exceeded my expectations. I was anticipating more of candy cane like peppermint taste, but it is much closer to a deep chocolate mint which I loved! Given the strong chocolate mint flavour I decided to try an experiment and add some crushed chocolate mint Milano cookies to the gelato. Although I knew it wouldn't be bad, I was actually shocked how good the combination was. Hopefully FG can get creative with this flavour in the future because I want more! I thoroughly enjoyed this pint and would rate it a A-. If FG were to add in some mix-ins like crushed cookies or chocolate chunks it would likely take it to the next level. However, if you get a chance to try this flavour from Fiasco Gelato in its current form, do not hesitate for a second. Sent from Windows Mail
