Gelato Fiasco Mascarpone Pistachio Caramel Gelato
Gelato Fiasco Mascarpone Pistachio Caramel Gelato is labeled as "A customer suggestion that hit big time, this gem was inspired by the seductive, creamy filling found in Sicilian Cannoli." Usually when you think of Mascarpone you instantly think of Tiramisu or the filling of a cannoli. Taking two of my favorite desserts and claiming this is the base of a gelato was a must grab.
Right away on my first bite I instantly thought of New Orleans Ice Cream Company's Creole Cream Cheese. The Difference between the NO Flavor and this one is the amount of sweetness added to the base. The mascarpone offering is exactly what you would expect if you enjoy italian based desserts. Think a very bold cheese flavored dessert, with a nice luscious aftertaste.
Next Gelato Fiasco is not known to get fancy with mix-ins. The real addition is the pistachio's thrown into the base of the gelato. The Caramel may be a far stretch. There really is no swirl, but you taste small vibes of caramel every few bites. The Pistachio is exactly as you would want them to be. Plentiful in amount, salty, and offer a nice crunch. Gelato Fiasco does not shy on the thickness or size of these either. These were a bit larger in size compared to the toffee walnuts offered in Maple Sap Tap.
Do you like Cannoli's? Do you like Mascarpone in Tiarmisu? Do you like a very sweet and rich cream cheese based ice cream? If you said yes to all of those buy this right away. On top of an incredible dense base that has the consistency of Gelato Fiasco's famous gelato. The addition of the salty pistachio's and a slight caramel inclusion in the decadent base puts the icing on this cake. Hands down one of Gelato Fiasco's best offerings on their line.
