Wegmans Nutter Batter ice Cream Review
Upon Stumbling into Wegmans I noticed they have released two limited flavors “Nutter Batter” and “Smores” as Premium to their line of ice creams. Seeing both of these are very caloric heavy (310/330) per serving (Nutter Batter/Smores) I had high hopes with how dense the calories were that the flavors, mix-ins, and compliments in the pints would pack some quality flavor.
Nutter Batter is “Vanilla Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Cookie Dough, Caramel, and Peanut Butter Swirls” After lifting the lid you get to see everything that the label explains. There is not much of the vanilla base that is shown because of the massive amount of swirls and little globs of peanut butter cookie dough. I found that inclusion very neat because I have never seen that in an ice cream before. Picture yourself eating the Dough of Peanut Butter Cookies that is the best way to describe that combined with the PB/Caramel Swirls labeled in the pint.
Upon first bite I was blasted with the rich amount of complimenting flavors from the peanut butter swirls (which are like actual globs of Peanut butter found in HD Peanut Butter Pie) very rich and buttery caramel, and a small peanut butter cookie dough glob which had a soft texture but great aftertaste that really combined well with the peanut butter swirl. I had to continue digging to see if the pint would hold true the deeper it got with the mix-ins.
As I continued to plow through this pint the vanilla base started to stand out the more I got to try it. It had a very nice vanilla/cake batter like taste to it that reminded me a touch of the Coldstone Cake Batter base but more with a vanilla bliss. How Wegmans combined the two flavors really made it stand out with the other mix-ins they did provide which were dense, packed with flavor, and really hit the spot if you are a Peanut Butter Junkie. The Caramel was a great inclusion, it could of did well with a fudge swirl as well to compliment the vanilla/PB but either way this pint is a must pick up. Being I am a huge PB Fan, this was one of the better ones I have had that is peanut butter based.
