Living the Cream The Big Chipper
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
The Big Chipper is labeled as "Chips ahoy ice cream, callebaut milk chocolate stracciatella, chocolate chip gooey butter cake."
The chips ahoy ice cream is spot on to the cookie you would buy in the grocery store. Living The Cream must have soaked cookies in milk for a day and then churned this into a perfect replica. The buttery undertone of the cookie is met with the brown sugar and chocolate notes found in the cookie. If I were to knock this just a touch I would like a bit more salt to help the flavor pop.
The Callebaut milk chocolate stracciatella is broken-up chocolate shards that are laced throughout the pint. The quality of the chocolate really shines and provides a great compliment to the Chips Ahoy base. The chocolate gooey butter cake is moist, dense, and packed with a luscious aftertaste. The texture of the mix-ins is incredibly soft and provides the perfect chewiness to compliment the thick base
This is a very straight forward flavor but each aspect really goes hand in hand to make it work. All of the chocolate helps enhance what you get in the cookie and the butter cake is the extra icing on the cake to amplify the base ice cream. This is the first time I had the chips ahoy base from Living The Cream and I was a fan.
