Living the Cream Reptar, King of The Mix-Ins
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
Reptar, King of the Mix-ins is labeled as "Vegan Peanut butter ice cream, marshmallow swirls, oreo toffee, half-baked brownies, chocolate chip cookie dough"
The vegan peanut butter ice cream is similar to real peanut butter out of a jar. When peanut butter meets high-quality ice cream you taste a high buttermilk fat content. The density is very thick as Living the Cream's bases are right up there like Salt & Straw, Caffe Panna, and Clementines. If I were to nitpick the base I would like a little bit more salt to really get this flavor to pop. Due to the fact this was vegan peanut butter, I did not expect it to taste as rich as a regular peanut butter base.
The marshmallow swirls are extremely thick, luscious, and have a blistering rich flavor that pairs well with the peanut butter base to make a fluffernutter combo. It was a smart move to do marshmallows as a swirl because mini marshmallows can become rock hard when frozen in ice cream. The half-baked brownies are reminiscent of undercooked brownies that have an incredibly squishy and gooey center. This is my preference for brownies instead of the crispy outer edges. The chocolate chip cookie dough chunks are soft and provide a chewy mix-in. The cookie dough chunks provide molasses, brown sugar, and a buttery undertone. The Oreo Toffee provides a crunchier version of America's favorite cookie.
This one is a bag of tricks all congealed into one pint of ice cream. It is also labeled after one of my favorite bands "The Devil Wears Prada". This is one for the basic B's out there who love high-quality mix-ins that are paired with one of the best peanut butter bases to hit the ice cream market.
