Living the Cream Cinnaberry
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
Cinnaberry is labeled as "Agave roasted strawberry ice cream, Brown sugar cinnamon graham cracker chunks, brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts, and cinnamon caramel swirls
The richness and ripeness of the vegan agave roasted strawberry are present from the very first bite. The ripe base provides a sweet flavoring that remains mild and mellow as the ice cream tempers. Fruity flavors are very hard to execute but Living the Cream did a good job, but have room for improvement. The strawberry needs a touch more density to really stand out.
The cinnamon caramel swirls are unique. I would say this is much heavier in cinnamon than caramel. The bitter, rich, and thick swirls are pooling from side to side. Due to the heavy cinnamon, the caramel plays the backend, but all in all the execution is solid. The brown sugar cinnamon graham cracker crumble chunks gives this pint the hybrid element it needs to pair perfectly with the dense base. The cinnamon is not too overpowering to take away from the other elements in the ice cream, but the heavy spic brings a fantastic piece to the big picture. Lastly, the brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts are my childhood favorite. When you add the immense amount of cinnamon, a chewy mix-in, and the lingering brown sugar flavor everything comes together.
I am not the biggest fan of fruity ice creams, but the sheer amount of brown sugar and cinnamon make this one unique. I may be biased on the brown sugar cinnamon pop-tarts but I really like how they make the swirls and crumble pop when digging into this ice cream. Overall a good pint of ice cream, but the base holds it back from its true potential.
