Living the Cream Puppy Chow
Living the Cream is a small business out of Buffalo. The guy is churning up some masterpieces out of his own kitchen. I luckily found him off Instagram due to his love of eating America's finest ice cream. His homemade ice cream has a lot of praise due to the fact he makes everything from scratch.
Puppy Chow is labeled as "Chocolate graham cracker ice cream, peanut butter swirls, and PB/Choc Chex Muddy Buddies".
The chocolate graham cracker ice cream is similar to a milk chocolate Hershey bar infused with a graham cracker. This provides a twist of cinnamon and graham on the backend. This is not something you see every day but makes for a very good combination. Cinnamon and chocolate do go hand in hand together, but the ratios have to be correct. Living the Cream has dominant chocolate with a subtle amount of cinnamon graham cracker to make it pop. Very well executed here in my opinion.
Living the Cream is not shy when it comes to pooling swirls from side to side and top to bottom. His peanut butter swirl is thick in nature with the right amount of salt in the aftertaste. The peanut butter chocolate Chex muddy buddies are tricky. These snacks can go bad quickly when in ice cream. However the extra crunch and bite these provide on top of a powdered sugar coating helps keep them from going stale. Granted the flavor is not as pure as eating muddy buddies out of a packaged container, but there is only so much you can do with such a light coating.
Overall I really like the base, and the swirls are always top-tier. Those are staples from Living the Cream. However, the muddy buddy Chex mix-in would do better with a chocolate coating to prevent them from losing flavor. I see where Living the Cream was going with this, but the powder coating is not strong enough to prevent them from losing taste.
