Magnum Milk Chocolate Hazelnut
Magnum Milk Chocolate Hazelnut is labeled as "Chocolate hazelnut ice cream, hazelnuts, and milk chocolate shards in a cracking milk chocolate shell with more hazelnuts." The theme behind Magnum's ice cream is replicating their ice cream bars into an ice cream pint. Another eye opener is there is 370 calories per serving, so you know the flavor is not going to be lacking in this one. How does this compare to other grocery ice cream pints available?
When you open the pint you find a chocolate shell on top of the ice cream. It even states on the side of the container "Squeeze the sides of the container to crack the shell." The shell is infused with hazelnuts before you dig into the actual pint. The flavor of the chocolate resembles the chocolate coating of the ice cream bars. Think a hershey bar with a thick, dense, and rich milk chocolate tone frozen on top of ice cream. Once you finally break the shell the chocolate hazelnut ice cream is absolutely dynamite. This is very close to nutella in a frozen dessert. The creaminess of the ice cream is like you are eating a heavy paste of thick delux chocolate and splendid hazelnuts.
The amount of hazelnuts included in this pint were consistent from top to bottom. These are not massive in size like a Greater's chocolate chips, but would be close to a halved hazelnut. The texture and crunch they provide with the luscious ice cream compliments each other perfectly. Not only is the chocolate shell loaded with hazelnuts you get them all the way down to your last spoonful of ice cream.
I read quite a few reviews before grabbing this one because Magnum is new into the ice cream pint game, but this was fantastic . All of the elements were ideal from start to finish with a crunchy shell, a splendid ice cream, and the proper mix in choice. While pretty simple on paper the execution was great for a grocery ice cream. If you are going to grab a Magnum flavor make sure it is this one!
