Ample Hills The View
Ample Hills The View is labeled as "chocolate marshmallow ice cream with ooey gooey butter cake pieces, brownies and crack cookies." Considering Ample hills put my favorite mix in from them (crack cookies) and ooey gooey butter cake this should make for a killer pint. Chocolate Marshmallow is not a regular base off their line, so they threw together a curveball. Brownies, Cake, and cookies? I feel like a fat kid at heart right now. Lets see how it pairs together.
Cracking into my first bite the base is very light, creamy, and full of chocolate flavor. The Chocolate base is outstanding, and the marshmallow is present in each bite. The sweetness of the marshmallow corresponds with the milk chocolate perfectly to replicate a chocolate marshmallow milkshake. The base was a slight step up from a Gelato as its extremely creamy and packs a ton of flavor. Ample Hills is a pure milk chocolate base that reminded me of the outer layer of a Mr. Goodbar. The marshmallow provides a rich sugary aftertaste that has a 50/50 ratio of chocolate to marshmallow. The best thing Ample Hills did was balance both flavors to make one not overpower the other. For those who are chocolate lovers it may turn you off a bit due to the sweetness of the marshmallow flavor. For those who like a semi-sweet sugary chocolate that is the best way to describe this base.
The crack cookies are a Ample Hills signature mix-in. The saltiness of that crackers help enhance the bold chocolate flavor offered in this pint. The brownies were very soft and similar to the Greyston Bakery ones found in Ben & Jerry pints. The brownies had a great texture, were very chewy, and packed a ton of flavor. You know the quality of these mix-ins when they still appear fresh as you go through a frozen pint of ice cream. Lastly the ooey gooey butter cake is exactly as you found in No Sleep Til Pumpkin and Ooey Gooey Buttercake fantastic. The buttercake is full of flavor, packed with a very sweet aftertaste, and very bold in buttery richness. The cake pairs well with the softness the brownies provide, and the crack cookies give this pint a nice bite. With how consistent Ample hills is with mix-ins you get something in every single bite from the top of this pint to the bottom.
Within an hour after releasing this flavor I ordered. Combine three of Ample Hills best mix-ins(Brownies, crack cookies, and ooey gooey butter cake) with a top notch base, and it is a great limited edition flavor. Both the chocolate and marshmallow pair together very well to make asweet milk-chocolate. With tons of brownies, lots of crack cookies and butter cake this was a huge hit for me. My favorite mix-ins off the AH Line combined with killer luscious chocolate marshmallow base.
