Gelato Fiasco's Donut Cry For Me
Gelato Fiasco's Donut Cry For Me is labeled as "Chocolate glazed donuts swept up in a sea of dulce de leche milky caramel."
Chocolate Donuts and milky caramel base? Man does this one sound good. This is another reason why I saved this one for last. After reading some reviews online this one seemed to get the biggest praise. Hopefully with how much luck I have had on this limited edition run this will be the homerun pint.
First off the Dulce De Leche milky caramel base is exactly what you would expect. Upon first bite the creaminess the gelato offers is just like all the other GF Flavors. You also get incredible flavor. From first bite the density of the caramel is incredibly rich, and provides a luscious aftertaste that is blistering sweet and hits the spot. The amount of caramel reminds me of the filling on a milky way but churned into a gelato. I could just eat this base alone like Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel one of the best bases I have ever had as a standalone. Just off the base alone I am impressed.
Lets save the best part for last chocolate glazed donuts! I have had an experience before with Paula's Glazed Donut from Lake Effect made in house in Buffalo. After getting legit chunks of donuts in my pint, I knew Gelato Fiasco would be bringing the heat with this one. For some reason the consistency of all my pints have been great, but this one only had 2 donut pieces. The donuts reminded me of mini hostess donuts. A light chocolate glaze on the outside with a very moist texture on the inside. The chocolate flavor paired very well with the milky caramel base. The pieces are much smaller then the halved donuts I got in my Lake Effect pint.
Great pint, and what a way to end the limited edition pack from Gelato Fiasco. This was hands down the best base offered off the limited pints, and had only 2 donut pieces. Love Donuts? If you are a fan of dulce de leche or a milky caramel ice cream then you have exactly what you want. Unfortunately this was a very limited run to get these pints, but in the end it was worth the purchase. The pairing of the light milk chocolate donuts with a creamy caramel made for a good combo!
