Gelato Fiasco's Doughing Me, Doughing You
Gelato Fiasco's Doughing Me, Doughing You is labeled as "Sweet Cream Ice Cream, with Chunks of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough & Brownie Batter Dough
". On paper some of these flavors from GF are absolutely amazing. The question is they can be hit or miss with mix-ins and quality. So far through 4 experiences I have had much success. Lets hope this train continues with a very good sounding flavor especially with chocolate chip cookies & brownies. I have never had their sweet cream base so this one will intrigue me!
The Sweet cream ice cream (or should we say gelato) is exactly what you expect. Super creamy, and has a very light texture in each and every bite. The sweet cream was no where near as strong as say Milk & Cookies from Ben & Jerry's, Ultimate Oreo from Chocolate Shoppe, but it held its ground in giving a good flavor. This was still very reasonable like the filling of an oreo that seemed watered down. This may be due to the fact it is a gelato and not a premium ice cream, but none the less it will still good on its own.
The real takeaway here are the mix-ins of chocolate chip cookie dough and brownie batter dough. First off the brownie batter dough tasted like a milk chocolate brownie with a hint of sweetness to it. I don't know how Gelato Fiasco did it, but its taste was unique. What I also admired was the texture being very soft and chewy. Mix-ins can be hard as rocks in gelatos or ice cream, but the texture and consistency was very good throughout this offering. The regular cookie dough on the other hand is exactly as you would expect. Very nice sized chunks that have a great raw cookie dough flavoring to them. Imagine eating cookie dough right out of a wrapper rolled into small balls laced throughout the pint. The gooey and gritty texture was superb, and reminded me of Handels Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough which is one of my favorite cookie dough pints.
Gelato Fiasco continues to impress me on this limited edition series. First off the mix-ins are super consistent which has been an issue with me in the past. The base could of been better, but the texture and flavor of the mix-ins were a good match. Lots of flavor, lots of chewy goodness, and a good sweet cream base. If Gelato Fiasco stepped up the base this would be an A, but no complains on my end. For someone who loves brownies and cookie dough this really hit my sweet tooth.
