Chocolate Shoppe Cookie Dough
Chocolate Shoppe Cookie Dough is labeled as "Sweet cookie-flavored ice cream with heaps of soft chocolate chip cookie dough and tons of rich, liquid chocolate chips." After reading that description I started to question if this could be the most unique base ever for a cookie dough flavored ice cream. I have never tried a Sweet Cookie flavored ice cream base before so this really attracted my eye. I have had some killer pints of CCCD from Handel's in the past so i want to see how this racks up to some of the others CCCD out there.
Upon popping the lid the base looked like a basic vanilla with a small light brown tint like cookie dough would be in the stores. There were a small sign of chocolate chip, and a small brown spotting of cookie dough. After digging into my first bite I was pretty surprised by how well the base was flavored. Just picture yourself as a kid digging right into the cookie batter before you can spoon it on a cookie sheet. This stuff is the real deal and an exact replica of eating raw cookie dough.
As I ventured down the pint I did run into some legit size cookie dough pieces. Small round balls that you would get when making a customized ice cream at coldstone. These were full size balls of cookie dough, that were soft, light, and packed a dense amount of cookie dough flavor. Combine that with a cookie dough base and the flavoring was very strong. Strong enough to the point i questioned if I should pour myself a cup of milk on the side. The liquid chocolate chips remind me of baked chocolate chips biting into a cookie right out of the oven. Melt in your mouth and scattered all over the place. After a few spoonfuls they were hit or miss throughout the pint. Besides only a half dozen cookie dough balls and a lacking amount of chocolate chips this will get a B Grade. The base was absolutely phenomenal but if the mix-ins were up to par this would be an easy A.
Grade: B
