Turkey Hill Stuffed Double Cookies and Cream
Since I had 3 coupons for Free Quarts this will be the second I got off the line of Turkey hill besides the Double Dunker (Which I did review) and am eyeing up hopefully a new seasonal (the double chocolate does not appeal to me) or maybe look into the stuffed moose tracks being a PB Lover. Only time will tell
Turkey Hill stuffed Double Cookies and Cream is labeled as "Vanilla-flavored frozen dairy dessert stuffed with chocolate cookie pieces and crunchy chocolate cookie swirl". After having double Dunker and noticing the massive cookie swirl it had to offer on top of cookie dough I had high hopes for this one as well. Swirls have never left me disappointed when it comes to TH because that is what they specialize in IMO. Without further ado lets pop the lid and see what this Quart has to offer.
Upon lifting the lid it was very apparent the swirl was strong in this one as expected, and there were nice big chunks of chocolate cookie pieces which looked like halved oreos for the most part. The vanilla base looked very strong, but I have noted with Turkey hill the ice cream is like soft serve and lighter than most brands like Ben & Jerry's, 2nd Street, Jeni's, Graeters which may be far premium Ice Cream than Turkey hill will ever be.
After digging into my first bite I noted the vanilla base and expected it to be basic or average at best. I would have to say that is the best way to put it, nothing over the top, but a basic vanilla. Nothing that leaves an incredible after taste or a powerful creamy texture on the way down, but gives you what you want to help compliment the cookie pieces and cookie swirl which dominate the quart as you work your way into the heart of the ice cream. The cookie pieces are not rock hard like you sometimes get in premium ice creams like Ben & Jerry's. Sometimes you get heath bars, or PB Cups that may break your teeth, but these are nice, offer a good crunch, and the swirl is exactly the same way. Dense, loaded with flavor, and a good crunch of the outside cookie with a good taste of the cream from an Oreo. The cookie and swirl really make this quart what is really is.
Overall the Flavor is basic (Vanilla) for a base, but the real winner is the cookies (which are all over the place and abundant). The Chocolate Cookie Swirl is another major compliment that keeps this flavor alive as far as taste and mix-ins go. Throw a lot of cookie pieces and cookie halves with a killer swirl and you get a great Cookies and Cream Selection. Do not get me wrong this is no Graeters, or as good as a milk and cookies (B&J) but this still gets some recognition for the amount of kcals per serving (150 kcals 6F, 22C, 2 P). Someone looking for a lower calorie cookies and cream fix this would be a great option to invest in without question.
