I am on a quest to see if any of the new flavors of Talenti can match up or surpass my favorite off the line (Sea Salt Caramel ((SSC)). Upon grabbing this pint I have read a few reviews that rated this pretty high so I had high expectations going into this pint. Talenti Fudge Brownie is simply a dark chocolate base with small tiny fudge brownie pieces that are scattered throughout the pint.
Upon breaking the seal i saw a nice chocolate swirl and small fudge brownie bites and a very dark chocolate looking base (or belgian milk chocolate) and then i began to dig into my first bite which reminded me a true hershey chocolate bar. This chocolate base was outstanding, it is not a Jeni's Grade A, but very close IMO. It surpasses Graeters, 2nd Street and Ben & Jerry's without question. It reminded me of having chocolate Therapy from Ben & Jerry's with a sweeter kick to it and a darker chocolate flavoring.
After digging into the pint a bit more the Swirl seemed to overpower the small tiny fudge brownie pieces which were reminiscent of the nut pieces in nutty caramel Swirl (From Ben & Jerry's) which are very lack luster in size. It is not a very thick or dense swirl which you may find in Turkey Hill's Pumpkin Pie which is divine, but does allude to a nice chocolate aftertaste combined with the strong base.
The Fudge brownies are rich, they are on the softer side, and remind yourself of a brownie diced up and thrown into the mix. The overall chewiness is a great factor, and full of flavor that compliments everything in the pint very well. This was a perfect mix-in for this pint if you are a chocolate lover! the only gripe I have is the size of the mix-ins, if they were larger in size like the truffles in SSC then this would be golden and maybe worthy of an A-. But for the very strong and powerful belgian milk chocolate base similar to a amplified Hershey bar, and small chocolate swirl and brownie pieces this is a killer offering from Talenti and I rank this in my top 3 behind Sea Salt Caramel and Chocolate Peanut Butter, then i would put Southern Butter Pecan at #4.
Grade: B+
