Caffe Panna Panna JobCaffePanna's goal is to bring that same welcoming spirit and all-day accessibility to the heart of New York City, with an emphasis on delicious ice cream that marries elements of both Italian and American traditions. Panna Job is labeled as "Pianogrillo olive oil and vanilla bean ice cream with Sicilian orange" The vanilla bean ice cream and Pianogrillo olive oil is one combination I have never experienced before and was quite an experience. The olive oil has a buttery feel to it, which helps enhance the creamy and dense vanilla ice cream. You would expect the vanilla to be dominant here, but olive oil is the front runner for dominating the ratio of flavors in this hybrid base. The Sicilian orange inclusion is yet another unrefined mix-in not seen quite often in the ice cream industry. The fruit has a very distinct taste with a sweet flavor and a hint of raspberry. The orange possesses a more bitter taste than a normal tangerine or nectarine you would grab from a grocery store. Imagine a combination of grapefruit and blood orange that is incredibly tart swirled from top to bottom. This combination was incredibly foreign to me, and not my cup of tea. The additions of olive oil and Sicilian orange were unique, but not anything I desired. While I go into these kinds of flavors with an open mind, nothing about this pint excited me. Grade: C+ Found.
