Clementine's Wild Irish Oats
Clementine's Wild Irish Oats is labeled as "A deconstructed oatmeal cookie into our decadent dairy base. Seeded with homemade wild granola (Flaxseed meal, hemp seed, sliced almond, apple, craisin). This one really caught my eye for a few reasons. First I love oatmeal cookies (especially raisins), granola is comfort food, and Clementine's bases are some of the best on the market. When you put all of that into a decadent dessert I had to pick up this new flavor and give it a whirl.
Wild Irish Oats contains the original dairy base provided in Clementine's ice cream, but with a heavy sprinkling of Oat Flour. The high buttermilk fat and rich flavoring pairs with oatmeal to give you a buttery baked good in a frozen dessert. There is a dusting of cinnamon in the backend which makes this a unique base with a different consistency. Many may be used to the creamy and rich Clementine's ice cream, but this is still incredible how the company can modify its flagship formula to make a great tasting base.
Where the flavor really shines is the mix-in of granola that is consistent from top to bottom. The crunchy addition provides shards of apples, craisins, flaxseed, almonds, and hemp seeds. The raisins are the most dominant mix-in as all the others are shredded throughout the experience. The plump raisins have a luscious flavoring and sweet addition that compliments the cinnamon-oatmeal base.
This was a special flavor due to the fact of how the base was made, and how the brand can still execute with changing their flagship ice cream. For those who enjoy oatmeal, oat flour, and granola this will be enjoyable. The texture and consistency of the base will differ from what you are use to, but the flavor alone makes it worth a grab.
