Clementine's Carrot Cake
Carrot Cake is labeled as "Carrot Cake Ice Cream with warming spices of cinnamon, clove, brown sugar, carrot, Medjool dates, golden raisins, and roasted granny smith apples with a cream cheese swirl". This is a first time flavor to Clementine's as it is not a very heavily seen flavor on the market. How well can the brand execute this flavor especially the cream cheese swirl?
The carrot cake ice cream is spot-on perfect. The sheer density of Clementine's base truly shines in each and every bite. What you get is the warm mixture of clove, cinnamon, and brown sugar spices with a dense carrot flavor. The kicker is the raisins, apples, and dates that are finely chopped and consistent from top to bottom. Most companies will use larger mix-ins, but Clementine's decided to congeal it all into the ice cream to enhance the experience.
The sole mix-in is the cream cheese swirl as the other aspects are all put into the ice cream base. The cream cheese swirl is very apparent on the top, but as you work your way down the pint it is nowhere to be seen. Just like the ice cream the tangy, and rich cream cheese is extremely impressive. The sweet and creamy consistency pairs very well with the ice cream like frosting on a birthday cake.
Do not get me wrong this flavor is good, but with a tweak in the consistency of the cream cheese swirl, this could make this a top flavor from Clementines. This may be just my experience, but I have had this happen in other flavors as Mix-ins after the surface. None the less if you are a carrot cake fan, this is worth a try while it is available from Clementines.
