Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Half Baked
Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Half Baked
Peanut Butter Half Baked is labeled " Chocolate & Peanut Butter Ice Creams mixed with Gobs of Peanut Butter Cookie Dough & Fudge Brownies" It is good to see Ben & Jerry's get more PB bases in their lineup. Seeing the mix-ins of Gobs of peanut butter cookie dough and fudge brownies I was excited. Greyston bakery is really turning it up a notch with how soft the brownies are and the size they replicated in all the previous flavors. This was a flavor released in 2015, so I am eager to scoop it again.
Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter base is the better of the two in this offering. The peanut butter is mild but gives you enough flavor to capture true peanut butter scooped from a jar. If I had one minor adjustment it would be to enhance the saltiness to amplify the flavor. The Chocolate, on the other hand, is one of the weaker flavors from the brand. The chocolate needs a bolder, richer, and luscious flavor for it to truly shine. I have never been a major fan of Ben & jerry's chocolate as I think its one of the weaker offerings on the market, but it does get help from the stronger peanut butter compliment.
The brownies are massive, thick, and also very moist. To be honest this could be Ben & Jerry's best mix-in next to their marshmallow swirl. The quality of the brownies is top-tier, which is another reason these stand out. The Peanut butter cookie dough pieces were very hard to find throughout this experience. They offer a nice chew that goes hand in hand with the soft brownies. The cookie dough pieces, which I had 2 of them total, added a touch of saltiness to amplify the big picture.
Americans thrive off chocolate and peanut butter, which are winners in my book. Throw in brownies and cookie dough and you have a classic flavor. Two things that would help this flavor out would be a better consistency of mix-ins and also improve the chocolate base. While it is not the best it holds back the true potential of this old-school flavor.
