Ample Hills Fluffernutter Fudge
Fluffernutter Fudge is labeled as "Marshmallow ice cream with swirls of peanut butter and chunks of dark chocolate". It is inspired by the nostalgic children’s sandwich, the fluffernutter! A sandwich made on white bread with two spreads (marshmallow creme and peanut butter), the fluffernutter is a lunchbox classic. It would make any kid the envy of the cafeteria!
The marshmallow ice cream is the same base that has been seen in Snap Mallow Pop. The marshmallow base is pure, dense, and has a creamy texture as you see in all the Ample Hills flavors. What I truly appreciate about Ample Hills is how they find a happy medium in the balance between the sweetness of the marshmallow The creamy and rich base provides everything you would want when you eat fluff straight out of a jar, but in a much richer form with ice cream.
The peanut butter swirl is just like what you saw in PB Takes a Dip, but in this pint, it was large and in charge. Each pocket of swirl chunked it way from the top to bottom with consistency. There is a hint of saltiness in the aftertaste, which plays well with the dark chocolate chunk mix-in. The dark chocolate has a dry cocoa bitterness to them. These are very dense, soft, and gooey that resemble ganache. The bitterness of the chocolate helps offset the sweetness of the base to give it a well-rounded flavor.
When I looked at this pint on paper I did not expect much, but Ample Hills thrives off execution. The base is stellar, the peanut butter swirl was massive, and the chocolate chunks were the correct call for a mix-in. I have nothing bad to say about this pint besides grabbing it before it is gone.
