It sounds like I need to add Oddfellows on my to-do list for my next NYC trip. Definitely. They seem to be rotating flavors in and out quite frequently so far. How long is your NYC list so far? There is a place called Davey's opening up in the East Village soon, but that place is going more traditional IIRC. Recently the 7th ave location of L'Arte Del Gelato also became Dulce Gelato and I have no idea if that isa new separate company or just L'Arte re-branding.

If they are in there in their entirety then I'm not sure. If their flavor is ground into base I would.

]I'd honestly give it a try. My philosophy; if its being served to me, its not going to hurt me. I have that same mentality. Food wise, I'm willing to try most everything once. I haven't planned the trip, but I'm hoping for sometime this Fall. I'll probably start a thread specifically looking for NYC recommendations once I get an exact date booked.

Wow, totally forgot to mention the best ice cream I've ever had. Duck fat ice cream. It's part of a dish called Cobbler on Quack at Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale, AZ. My review is online. The pastry chef who makes it, Country Velador, is a genius. She also creates things like frozen naner ice cream and miso brown butter ice cream, each made for a specific dessert. /swoon The duck fat ice cream is always on the menu because it's that amazing. If you are in AZ, go eat some.

Hi all, You probably do not know that I'm a copy editor and sometimes food journalist. Well, about a month ago the editor at the food blog I write for asked if I'd make a list about the wackiest ice cream flavors across the country. Awesome, right? I kinda owe that to my reader reviews here. Thanks to you all for pointing me to the cicada ice cream. And thanks also to ICI for a really amazing photo of my favorite ice cream ever, Jeni's goat cheese cherry... Here are 10 Crazy Ice Creams Made by Small-Batch U.S. Artisans. So am I right on the money with these, or do you disagree with any of my decisions? Are there any flavors you're dying to try, or are they just too weird? And so you don't miss it, I give you Foie Gras, Peanut Butter & Cocoa ice cream from the already infamous OddFellows:

Way cool!
This week I tried Mamey ice cream by Valentini. It starts off like watermelon, turns into a cherry cream and then ends with a coconut-esque back note. Very complex for a single flavor fruit.
