Ben & Jerry's Gimmie S'more!
Ben & Jerry's Gimmie S'more! is labeled as "Toasted Marshmallow ice cream with chocolate cookie swirls, graham cracker swirls, and fudge flakes." Something to note here is the toasted marshmallow swirl is a first for B&J's. The Chocolate cookie swirl is featured in Milk & Cookies, The Tonight Dough, & Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake Truffle. The Graham cracker swirl (which I have never found in Pumpkin Cheesecake) is rated as one of their best swirls, and lets not forget the fudge flakes they put in almost 75% of their pints.
After having my first few bites I am starting to question why it was labeled a toasted marshmallow base. There is nothing "toasted" associated with the base, and there is hardly any marshmallow flavor to it. If you blindfolded me and told me to blind test the ice cream I would tell you resembles sweet cream. Since Ben & Jerry's is known to make an incredible marshmallow swirl you would think they could do the same thing and put it into an ice cream base.
After pulling off the lid there are chunks of fudge flakes, and ripples of cookie swirl. Similar to the other pints you find the cookie swirl in this is easily the star of the show. Consistent from top to bottom the crunchiness of the cookies wrap around your spoon in every single bite. The two biggest things that really threw me off guard was barley finding any fudge flakes, and a lackluster graham cracker swirl. As I was finishing off the pint I started to think the fudge flakes were congealed into the cookie swirl since it was so thick.
So what did we learn about Gimmie S'more! in comparison to the original S'mores!?
1) It tastes better then the original Chocolate base, but the base doesn't taste like marshmallow.
2) This is closer to Cookies & Cream then a S'more.
3) The Graham Cracker swirl is hard to find.
If you are on the hunt for the two new S'mores flavors from Ben & Jerry's seek out the Target exclusive Glampfire Trail Mix (Even though it tastes like Rocky Road).
