Clementine's Cinnamon Apple Pie
Clementine's Cinnamon Apple Pie is labeled as "Vietnamese Cinnamon Ice cream with scratch made Apple Pie Chunks". I only had one apple pie based ice cream before (Handel's), so I am going to gauge this review towards what I have had in the past. Fruity flavors and pies are normally not my biggest favorites when I am selecting an ice cream flavor, but since this was limited I decided to give it a shot.
The cinnamon ice cream is flawless. If you could imagine the purest and richest cinnamon ice cream this is exactly it. Clementine's delivers on their density and thickness provided in their ice cream base. The resemblance of custard on top of the unimpaired ice cream alone makes for an incredible base. It reminded me of Graham Central Station from Handel's, but packed with a bolder flavor.
The Apple pie chunks included as the mix-in were great. There is only one problem there was nothing more then what was garnished on top. There were 4 large chunks of apple pie pieces that struck the surface, and after that is was all base. Do not get me wrong the pie chunks were great. The thickness and crunch from the graham base pairs with the gooey apple center. The quality is top tier as it is what you would expect from a made from scratch apple pie. You taste the hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger that congeal with the flavoring from the ice cream base. When everything is paired together the synergistic flavors make for a damn near perfect apple pie experience.
Besides the lack of mix-ins everything about this pint was on point. A sensational base is paired with a superb mix-in. While simple on paper this flavor was executed well With Clementine's the consistency of the mix-ins is the biggest gripe I have with the company. If there was an improvement of mix-ins from top to bottom this one could be one of my favorites of the fall selections.
