Little G's Peanut Butter Buckeye
Little G's Peanut Butter Buckeye is labeled as "Milk chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirl, buckeyes, and peanut butter cookie dough." Being a guy who visits Ohio State often I have had my fair share of buckeyes in my lifetime. I am also a basic B who loves the chocolate and PB Combination. When you put one of my favorite candies into an ice cream you better deliver! here is to hoping this flavor is one that blows me away!
The milk chocolate base is exactly as you would expect it to be. The chocolate reminds me of a melted Hershey candy bar solidified into ice cream. The richness of the chocolate is not super strong, but it has the bold aftertaste of a true chocolate you would expect from a milk chocolate. The density on this pint was the strongest of the pack as it had to temper a bit before being able to fully enjoy a proper consistency of ice cream. Normally I like to eat them out of the freezer to prevent them from melting, but this one held up for a good 15-20 minutes before it started to melt along the sides.
The buckeyes in this pint were loaded. I easily got 30 of them from top to bottom. This was one of the most consistent Little G Ice creams I have had with all mix-ins and swirls present. The buckeyes are a little hard on the outside, but the center is a perfect sweet peanut butter. The richness of the peanut butter and the hard outside chocolate shell go very well together. The peanut butter swirl like seen in Chocolate PB Cup and Cowboy Cookie is massive, and when I mean massive it is in chunks throughout the entire experience. The peanut butter cookie dough was hard to find, but it is very soft, and chewy. The soft texture of the cookie dough and the harder buckeyes with the melting swirl all paired together to compliment each other perfectly.
If you know one thing Little G's dominates the PB Swirl in each and every flavor she has produced. Throw together a chocolate and peanut butter combo with a surmounting peanut butter swirl and you have a hit. If the buckeye pieces were a littler softer, and there was more PB Cookie dough this would of been an easy A. Besides that I would highly suggest this flavor, and hopefully see it back in the future.
