Graeter's Butterscotch Latte Graeter's Butterscotch Latte is labeled as "Roasted coffee beans and sweet brown sugar fused for a smooth blend of ice cream that would make even the finest barista proud." Being a major advocate of coffee I feel there is not enough on the market. After having quite a few over the years I have a hard time finding a company to make a better base then the OG Jeni's Black Cat Espresso that used fresh beans from Coffee in Chicago. Like Caramelized Chocolate (last bonus flavor) this is a base ice cream with no mix-ins. The coffee flavor is strong, as the brown sugar element is much more profound as it hits you in the aftertaste. The coffee beans remind me of a mild brew coffee. Graeter's brewed fresh coffee in house and then added the steamed milk and brown sugar elements before churning and producing the ice cream. You can taste hints of steamed milk as you taste the ice cream that goes very well with the mild brown sugar flavoring. Hands down this is one of Graeter's strongest base ice creams I have ever tasted. This is no where near a top tier flavor like Buckeye, Black Raz, Cheesecrown, but for a base alone it is good. I would like to see Graeter's maybe mesh this with Brownies (like Ample Hills The Eye Opener), Chocolate Chips (Espresso Chip From Gelato Fiasco), or a unique mix-in from their bakery like a Danish that would really take this to another level. Grade: C+ (Overall) B+ (As a Base alone) Found: Graeters Wexford, PA
