Little G's Peanut Butter & Jelly
Little G's Peanut Butter & Jelly is labeled as "Peanut Butter Ice cream with a homemade raspberry jam swirl & honey roasted peanuts." An all time favorite classic is made into an ice cream. Considering I enjoy Grace's PB Base, and this has a new featured swirl I was pleased to grab a few of these on one of my orders. Being not a huge nut fan off the line I wanted to see what the "Honey Roasted" aspect really brought to the table!
The Peanut butter base flavoring is not as strong as eating peanut butter out of a jar, but congeals the creaminess and flavor of peanut butter very well. The only small factor that may be missing is a salty aftertaste found in true peanut butter. Grace may have been going with a bold peanut butter when formulating this base, and with that said she did a good job. I personally enjoy her Peanut Butter base and hope to see it in more pints in the future.
The homemade raspberry jam swirl is great! The flavoring is very bold and actually overpowers the peanut butter base when you combine both elements together. With how much strength she packed into the flavor of that swirl it really is remarkable to know how she made it herself and what recipe she did use. Some people like grape over raspberry when it comes to PB&J, but with how dense the swirl was I do not think anyone would be mad about what flavor she decided to use. The honey roasted peanuts did not have much to offer besides being there in the pint. I did not get an aftertaste from them, nor did they hold a candle to her candied pecans which are her best nut mix-in. The size of these is much smaller then the candied pecans and walnuts which was nice because they are easier to consume.
All in all this is a well done PB & J flavor. I would rank it above the B&J Swirled of Difference, but it does not beat out the Salt and Straw variation. The swirl in this flavor was awesome just like her peanut butter base, but I could do without the nuts and perhaps a peanut butter cookie mix-in. Beggars cannot be choosers on what they want in a PB&J variation, but I would have to pass on rescoop this one in the future.
