Little G's Maple Oatmeal Cookie Dough
Little G's Maple Oatmeal Cookie Dough is labeled as "Maple Ice Cream with oatmeal cookie dough chunks & Candied Walnuts". When little G's added 3 new flavors to her OG Lineup on Goldbely this one seemed to be the least of my interest. The reason being I know Little G's is known for crazy mix-ins and awesome swirls (my favorite part of her ice cream). Since this did not have a swirl, I was skeptical. I knew the maple base would be fire like Maple French toast, but I was nixed of the cookie dough in my PB Brownie dough. This will be my first experience with that!
The Maple is pure and reminds me of the aftertaste of maple syrup. It packs a lot of flavor and leaves a long lingering taste that has you going back for more. This is easily one of her best unique bases she offers off of Little G. The flavoring on this is absolutely dynamite, and is absolutely true to its name. I would not be surprised if she does want to use this more often in the future. It gets a lot of positive feedback and it is because the flavor could be the best maple base on the market.
I am not a huge fan of the candied walnuts that are featured in Carrot cake, and the white chocolate MdoughW. If you actually read my reviews I downgraded both of those flavors due to how large and hard they were. Luckily in this pint I did not get any of them (which played in my favor). Instead I was presented with one inch size chunks of oatmeal cookie dough which was glorious. The texture of the cookie dough is very soft which almost reminded me of the S&S Chunks provided in their flavors. The density and richness of the cookie dough is fantastic like you are eating it fresh out of a wrapper from a grocery store. Overall I wish my brownie dough had cookie dough chunks becuase these are an exceptionally well done mix-in from Grace and Little G.
Simple on paper, but well executed. The maple base is one of Little G's best on her line, and the cookie dough chunks were fantastic. I am actually going to rate this higher due to not having the nuts. They would of taken away from the density of the oatmeal cookie dough chunks, and would not have provided much flavor to the pint. If this had a cream cheese swirl or raisins added to the oatmeal cookie dough chunks this could be a top 5 flavor off the line.
