Graeter's Peanut Brittle
Graeter's Peanut Brittle is labeled as "Peanut Brittle flavored ice cream loaded with crunchy, candied peanuts." As we know Graeter's is very basic on paper, but execute very well. With the french pot processing they have used nuts plenty of times in the past with much success. Lets see how another summer bonus flavor stacks up on their line!.
The Peanut Brittle base is very similar to the Peanut Butter on Graeter's Ice Cream line. The difference is this has a stronger kick of saltiness that some consumers would greatly appreciate. This enhances the fantastic base. For many who have enjoyed Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip you will find this similar but a bit extra creamy and a slightly different aftertaste. While this is not a very unique base it is clearly different, making it yet something new we have not seen off the Graeter's line.
The candied peanuts are chunked up and consistent in each and every bite. The extra sweetness in the aftertaste give you a luscious vibe that pairs well with the base. Some chunks are larger then others due to the French pot processing method of creating Graeter's signature ice cream. With only one sole mix-in with this flavor they really made it stand out with how dense it is. Every spoonful goes with a nut or large chunks of nuts which makes it enjoyable.
Overall this has been my least favorite flavor of the Summer Bonus picks, but in the end its still well done. I think it is missing just one small element to really make it a top tier flavor. If you look at Salt and Straw & Little G's they have similar flavors with a salted ganache or fudge mix-in that give it the edge in the brittle flavors. I really like how Graeter's is using unrefined mix-ins and throwing new things at their consumers.
