Little G's Ice Cream Maple Pecan French Toast
Little G's Ice Cream Maple Pecan French Toast is labeled as "Maple Ice Cream with french toast chunks, candied pecans, and cinnamon cream cheese swirl."
Grace is really shocking me with how well she does unique bases. The Maple is very pure and reminds me of the aftertaste of maple syrup. It packs a lot of flavor and leaves a long lingering taste that has you going back for more. Besides a few small patches of ice on my initial base it did not impact the flavor to a large degree. I really enjoy this one and the brown sugar base she made in Gingerbread man.
After breaching the surface you are bombarded with candied pecans. Much like Sweet Potato Casserole they are large, crunchy, and have a sweet cinnamon sugar glaze to them. While they are not overpowering they go hand in hand with the french toast pieces packed in this pint. The pieces are dense and are not small. They will encompass your entire spoon as you dig further and further into the pint. While the candied pecans do most of the talking in the french toast pint, I would of like a better ratio of french toast to candied pecan pieces. I don't have much to comment on regarding the cream cheese swirl due to the fact I never found it. Due to hand packing the pints sometimes mix-ins and swirls can differ from pint to pint. I have been unlucky with Coffee Toffee Caramel, Sweet Potato Casserol, Gingerbread Man, and now this pint.
The candied pecans and the maple toast chunks are glorious. Not to mention this maple base is unique. When grace deviates from her original vanilla bean and chocolate bases she makes some high quality flavored ice cream. The amount of sweetness the maple provides really enhances all the aspects in this offering. If that cream cheese swirl was there this could of been a dark horse as one of her best on the original line.
