Little G's Triple Cookie Dough
Little G's Triple Cookie Dough is labeled as "Vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate chip, double chocolate & sugar cookie dough" Being someone who is a diehard cookie dough fan when you combine three different elements this could have potential. Now I have read countless reviews as one of the best on the original lineup. Another big reason why I did save this one for last. Having a few pints with the vanilla bean ice cream already I know what to expect from that. Lets see how good these mix-ins are in this offering.
First of all the vanilla bean ice cream is exactly what you would think. Ever drink a vanilla bean coffee creamer? Yeah that is exactly what Little G's brings to the table. The base is not super sweet or luscious like a Graeter's ice cream, but has a dense vanilla flavor. For those who like a strong vanilla and not sweet this is right up your alley. Besides breaching the surface and getting ice cream you are then loaded with nothing but mix-ins. I would put it up there as a good base, not great. Due to the amount of cookie dough included in the pint it takes away from tasting the base and the overall experience of the vanilla bean flavor.
Now the highlight of this is how Grace implements three different kinds of cookie dough. Most people are use to regular cookie dough chunks or balls they find in the grocery store. This also includes double chocolate cookie dough and sugar cookie cookie dough. When you take three totally different elements. You get a sweet cookie dough from the sugar cookie inclusion, which tends to give the base a slight upgrade in flavoring. Combine that with regular delicious, soft, and flavorful cookie dough chunks and that is 2/3rds of the pint. The chocolate cookie dough was really rich and had a strong flavor that overpowered the regular cookie dough and sugar cookie dough. When you combine all three you get a consistent amount of mix-ins that overload the amount of ice cream in the pint. Again Grace is not shy with mix-ins and it was eating globs of different cookie dough which is enjoyable to say the least.
Cookie Dough fans need to get their hands on this one. Just when I thought fudge brownie, and coffee cookies and cream were loaded this was just another example on her lineup. With how consistent the mix-ins are from top to bottom once you breach the surface it is game on. The three different cookie dough elements made this flavor shine because of the amount of flavor involved in each and every bite. Due to the density of the mix-ins it helps keep the base from tempering faster which is something I have experienced in a few pints. I have to say this was a good flavor, but not a 10/10 like many people have given it. I still prefer a couple others off the line a bit more (coffee cookies and cream, chocolate milk and cookies, peanut brittle and salted fudge)
