Ben & Jerry's Roasted & Toasted
Ben & Jerry's Roasted & Toasted is labeled as "Dark Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge Chunks, Fudge-Covered Roasted Almonds, & a Toasted Marshmallow Swirl. The new Walmart exclusive provides a Dark Chocolate ice cream base. In the past Ben & Jerry's has not been known for a good tasting chocolate ice cream. Perhaps a slight deviance with a dark chocolate swirl can help enhance the overall flavoring and ranking of this pint.
The dark chocolate base of the ice cream was incredibly rich and delicious. One bite in and the flavor reminded me a hershey special dark chocolate bar. Right away the flavoring is much improved compared to the milk chocolate based Ben & Jerry's bases by a landslide. The flavor is very bold, dense, and has a massive upgrade in flavor from the past. I was very pleased to see Ben & Jerry's improve on a weak point in their ice cream In My Opinion.
Onto the mix-ins. When you lift the lid the swirl is present everywhere. The toasted marshmallow swirl provides a charcoal roasted coloring just like if you were to roast a marshmallow on a campfire. Its taste is As you scoop down the pint the fudge chunks & Fudge Covered Roasted almonds are scattered throughout the pint. Very similar to what one would of had if they have scooped New York Super Fudge Chunk. The difference is these are roasted almonds, and there are no white fudge chunks provided in this pint.
The dark chocolate base is incredibly rich and takes away from the other aspects in the pint. The almonds provide a good crunch, but their flavoring is hidden from the superior flavored base. The Marshmallow swirl is familiar from the S'mores pint that had toasted marshmallow's (as a mix-in). My swirl was very strong at the top of the pint and faded about half way through. The Fudge Chunks I got resembled a hershey sized chocolate bar (as seen in the picture above). Ben & Jerry's have risen the bar on their mix-in game in the new limited batches. I would highly suggest this if you are a dark chocolate fan as Ben & Jerry's made a vast improvement in the chocolate flavoring.
