Ben & Jerry's Spectacular Speculoos Cookie Core
After this finally showed up in my target (PB Cookie Core is yet to make an appearance) i happened to have a free pint coupon that I had to put to good use. So with that said a free pint of a new core flavor could not be passed up. Now with the cookie butter craze and the Speculoos rave lets see if this surpasses what Trader joe's produced.
Spectacular Speculoos Cookie Core is labeled as "Dark Caramel & Vanilla Ice Cream
with Speculoos Cookies & Speculoos Cookie Butter Core". Well when you lift up the lid you get that massive vanilla looking base with just a smidge of the Dark Caramel that Ben & Jerry's has to offer. What is unique is the Dark caramel is not seen in very many pints, So i am eager to see how this tastes with the mix of Speculoos and vanilla this has to offer.
Upon first bite I was presented the vanilla base B&J's has to offer which is good, but nothing above the rest. It has a good dense flavor that gives a lasting aftertaste, but again nothing to rave over in terms of quality (it is a step up from their chocolate IMO). I got a hint of the Dark Caramel which I happen to believe is by far the better half of this pint when it comes to the base. Very luscious in flavor, and has a great after taste like you are taking down the middle of a milky war bar in comparison to the amount of caramel you are getting. So good that i had to think for a second I was almost digging into talenti's Sea Salt Caramel.
As I dug down the pint there were nice little chunks of the Speculoos cookies, but the funny thing was they were very similar to that of the Trader Joe's Pint when they released their cookie butter ice cream. Little specs here and there as you went down the pint. Combined with the base I found that Caramel and the cookie were a great pair, not to say the Vanilla and Cookie pieces + Core were not, but the Dark Caramel needs to happen more often in the future for Ben & Jerry's. The Core was pretty damn good. If you like Cookie Butter you are going to be in heaven. it reminded me of the globs of peanut butter from the PB Pie from Haagen Dazs. Very rich, dense, and flavorful of pure cookie butter in every single bite. Ben & Jerry's did good here, I am eager to see how it stacks vs PB Cookie Core when I get my hands on it. But if you are a cookie butter fan. this is a must. Improve the cookie pieces and Vanilla base and this is a stand out A
