Private Select Pecan Pie
Private Select Pecan Pie is labeled as "Vanilla Ice Cream with a buttery pecan sauce, flecked with chocolate and pastry crust". Upon getting this pint I have read quite a few reviews which labeled it very high and on the website it had a 4.5/5 Star rating which gave me a good indication that this may be a good one to scoop. After having Huckleberry Pie, Extreme Moose Tracks, and English Toffee Caramel I have not been let down for the price point and also the caloric amount per serving/pint.
Upon lifting the lid you see a very nice vanilla base, a large chunk of the buttery pecan sauce, and small little flecks of chocolate and pasty crust. While those little "Flecks" remind me of the little shattered pieces you would see in a nutty caramel swirl (nuts all flecked up), or the little pieces you find in Candy Bar Pie (Fudge all flecked up into small flakes).
As I dug into my first bite I noticed I was overwhelmed with the buttery pecan sauce as I dug right into the glaze that was left at the top of the pint. The amount of buttery taste reminded me right away of Steve's Sunday Morning as far as taste and flavor goes with a dense vanilla base and a small fleck of chocolate that had a nice little after taste and texture to it. The combination of a fulfilling vanilla base, a buttery after taste, and small flecks of chocolate was a very nice combination that went pretty well together.
Overall this pint was a bit different with the combination offered at hand, I have never had a pecan pie in my life but this was very promising for the amount of calories and combinations of flavor. The amount of buttery pecan sauce is more like a small swirl throughout the pint with small little globs that are hit or miss. The amount of chocolate and pasty crust are scattered all over the place like someone took a chocolate bar and shattered it to pieces. The pastry crust is very reminding of my scoop of Talenti Pumpkin Pie where the pieces are very small and hit or miss. The overall combination when put together makes a very good pint. For the flavor and taste this is well worth something to pick up and try. Not to mention I got this pint for 1.79 and it comes out to around 230 calories a serving (11 Fat, 28 Carbs, 3 Protein).
