Private Select Denali Extreme Moose Tracks
After going throug HuckleBerry and The English Toffee Caramel I have been pretty significant with how well for the calories Private Select is when it comes to base and mix-ins. I am now going to move into a few more pints I got to my trip in columbus and head into Extreme Moose Tracks as I was in the mood for Chocolate and Peanut butter two of my favorite things. My expectations are large because I have read some great reviews in the past lets see if they live up to the hype.
Denali Extreme Moose Tracks is labeled as "Rich Chocolate Ice Cream with Moose Tracks Fudge filled cups, and famous Denali Moose Tracks Fudge". When I first lifted the lid I was soon introduced to exactly what the label stated with the moose track fudge as there were globs of fudge and little swirls of fudge embraced on the top layer which is always a very positive sign.
Upon First Bite the first thing I was embraced with was the sure flavor of the base. The Chocolate is good, but this is nothing that can ever reach Jeni's good for the calories. While it is labeled as Rich chocolate, it tasted more like a hershey chocolate bar or a milk chocolate and not rich chocolate. The Chocolate bis good, it is better than the basic ben & Jerry chocolate base, but not the best out there to rave over. What I did also encounter on my first bite was a huge glob of fudge which was very surprising.
As I continue to plow through the pint the fudge pieces continue to amplify in size, and the fudge filled cups are like mini peanut butter cup size (think truffles in Sea Salt carmel ((Talenti)) but filled with fudge and covered in chocolate). I think I got around almost a dozen in a pint of ice cream, not the mention the large mix-ins of regular fudge. At first I thought i was digging into a pint of Graeter's ice cream due to the amount of mix-ins Private Select threw into this pint. The amount of fudge, and fudge cups really raised the grade on this pint due to the base more of a milk chocolate than the labeled "Rich" chocolate. For 240 calories a serving (14g Fat, 28g Carbs, and 4g Protein) This was a solid pint, and something I would definitely rescoop in the future if I get around to a Kroger.
Grade: B+
Found: Kroger Columbus, Ohio
