I used the last of my 3 free quart coupons for this new limited edition that came out from Turkey Hill's All Natural line labeled Banana with Peanut Butter and it featured Peanut Butter & Co.’s Smooth Operator peanut butter! With that said this was a very good pickup if you have ever tried the PB & Co in Jars so I had high expectations for this ice cream.
Upon popping the lid you see what Turkey Hill truly specializes in with their massive swirls. If you ever encountered Pumpkin Pie and the Graham Cracker Swirl you know exactly what I am talking about, the same could be said with any of their other limited edition flavors or those that utilize a swirl component (as seen in my Double Dunker Experience as well). The Banana base looks very light and fluffy and I would soon realize just how soft serve this ice cream truly was with not being very dense compared to some of the other Stuffed or regular flavors (Perhaps due to being the All Natural line and my first experience).
Upon digging in the first bite I dove right for the Peanut Butter Swirl. The banana ice cream is very light and fluffy and has a very subtle flavoring to it. Nothing like the Banana Peel'n Experience I had with the wegmans pint, but that is because it is premium ice cream. After cracking into the Peanut Butter Swirl it is a bit on the harder side and cracked as I dove into my first bite. The ribbons of swirl chip and shatter as you dig through them, but it is not rock hard like you may have had an experience in with Ben & Jerry's or HD with their PB pie in the past.
Overall the banana base is light, has a good flavor, but nothing to rave over. You get the initial burst of a banana flavor (which is not artificial or overpowering) but very smooth, milky, and creamy from first bite to last bite. The good thing is there is no added oil's due to being an All-Natural line. The peanut Butter swirl has a very dense peanut butter flavor, even if it comes apart in shards and cracks along the way it provides the good salty compliment to the sweet banana taste of the base. Peanut Butter and Banana is a perfect one two combo and compliments each other exactly as you would expect in this quart. The Sweet and Salty combination definitely hit the spot and for those who are Peanut Butter or Banana fans this is something you should consider for the limited edition pick up. Turkey Hill did a good job for a ice cream that only has 180 calories per serving.
