Turkey Hill Double Dunker
I recently got 3 free quart coupons in the mail from Turkey Hill, and decided to pick up some flavors that I have had my eye on for quite a bit. The first that struck me was a good coffee/mocha ice cream, so I settled on the Double Dunnker from Turkey hill which has swirls of chocolate cookie and also cookie dough pieces.
First of all popping the lid you see a massive dark brown cookie swirl which looks promising. If you have had any other Turkey Hill selections you know they are very good with the swirl as seen in their Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, and also their limited Moose Tracks and Cookies and Cream. The Mocha Ice Cream looks very promising, and there were small chunks of cookie dough pieces present on the top surface which is also a good thing!
Digging into my first bite I was amazed at how well the mocha flavoring was. For 170 calories a serving. You get a great mix of chocolate and coffee all in one that leaves a lingering after taste making you dig in for a second bite. It is not a very sweet or over rich base which gives you a nice creamy sweetness of coffee. The nice thing I enjoyed with the thick amount of chocolate cookie swirl and cookie dough pieces that were found as you continued to dig into the quart of ice cream.
As I wound down on this ice cream (I split this into two Talenti Pint Containers, no I did not eat the whole thing) the cookie dough pieces are very nice size, think about taking a dime and making it a 1/4” thick in size. While these are not Greater size chocolate chips they sure pack a punch with a great chocolate cookie swirl which continues to amplify as you dig deeper and deeper towards the bottom. The swirl again reminded me just like Pumpkin Pie from Turkey Hill which continued to get larger and larger and really separates this brand from others on the market. Turkey Hill is not something like Graeters, Ben & Jerry’s, 2nd Street, or Jeni’s which can rack up to almost 300+ calories a serving, but they still offer a legit product and good tasting ice cream with manageable size mix-ins and portions of what is on the label. This really reminded me of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy mixed with milk and cookies.
