Butter pecan ahead of anything peanut buttery? mind=blown America = Broken Taste buds. The data is actually international, which I think explains why coffee ranks so high. I love coffee ice cream, but I've never considered it to be a wildly popular flavor.

Butter pecan ahead of anything peanut buttery? mind=blown Well peanut butter ice cream isn't necessarily a popular ice cream on its own. Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a strictly peanut butter ice cream, except possibly in scoop shops.

People like basic things hence why vanilla, and chocolate are the 2 top selling whey protein powders (as a reference)

Though I love massive mix-ins, I'm also a fan of simplicity. I'm a big fan of Ben & Jerry's Coffee Coffee, BuzzBuzzBuzz because it's simplicity worked so well. The coffee ice cream was great and, coupled with the mocha bites, made it feel well rounded and complete. Similarly, Blue Bell's Natural Vanilla Bean is what I consider the prime go-to for vanilla ice cream. And yet my current favorite ice cream is Peanut Butter World, which is full of mix-in glory.

Honestly, when I think plain, I think Haagen-Dazs, along with Blue Bell's lesser flavors (Rum Raisin in particular). Almost every Haagen-Dazs pint I've tried has left me underwhelmed, I keep thinking "that's it?" whenever I scoop through them. Even Pralines & Cream, which is probably my favorite of what I've tried by them, should've had more pralines, especially towards the bottom.

I can see why you would say this, but there are exceptions. My favorite Haagen-Dazs is definitely banana split. It's so good it surprises me every single time I buy a pint. The gelatos I've tried have left me underwhelmed too, except for the dark chocolate chip.

Regular Haagen-Dazs pints (well, 1/2 a serving shy of a pint, if you want to get technical) are finally at a more reasonable price around there ($3.50 each). My parents recently bought (and finished) their vanilla gelato, and I got to try a bit. The density is definitely softer, which is great for scooping, but when you actually taste it there's an odd, gummy-esque character to it. The flavor also tasted more French vanilla to me, rather than vanilla bean. Not bad, but even I have to side with my parents in saying their regular vanilla ice cream is still better.
